Can You Help ?

Lynn Dickson is a consultant at the BGH working in Acute Medicine and she and her team are focusing on care for patients who come into hospital with memory problems. They have started to use “twiddlemuffs” which are knitted tubes with buttons, beads, ribbons and textures to allow hands to be distracted from pulling at intravenous lines etc. Lynn wondered if any local knitters might be interested in making these for the hospital as they are single use only due to infection control procedures! All patients who receive one can keep them for their own use and take them home! As a small community, She and her team wondered if this might be a good thing to do to support our elderly when they are unwell! If you are interested, feel free to write to her at The Borders General Hospital at Melrose and she can send the pattern or indeed various versions can be found online! Thanks so much in anticipation! Lynn and Team.
